Our Story: Building a Better Way to Source EV Parts

Finding an EV part should be simple. In practice, it often begins with a damaged vehicle, an uncertain reference number, several visually similar components and one urgent question: which part is actually right for this repair?
PartsVolt grew from that gap. We saw that EV repairers and owners did not just need another catalogue. They needed a clearer way to connect the vehicle, the repair context, reliable technical evidence and practical supply options.
That is the problem we are building PartsVolt to solve.
EV parts are more than a product search
On a conventional online store, two products with similar names may appear interchangeable. On an electric vehicle, a small revision can affect connectors, mounting points, sensor openings, software compatibility, battery configuration or the repair procedure itself.
The visible damaged component may also be only one part of the job. A collision repair can involve hidden wiring damage, cooling-system components, high-voltage isolation, one-time fasteners, restraint-system checks, ADAS calibration and post-repair validation.
For us, the important question is not simply, “Can we find a part?” It is:
- What vehicle and production configuration are we working with?
- What reference number and physical details can be confirmed?
- What else does the repair procedure require?
- Which supply option makes sense for quality, timing and total cost?
- What needs to be checked after installation?
We started by building the evidence layer
PartsVolt’s first major focus has been Tesla parts and service information for Australia and New Zealand, with an initial emphasis on Model 3 and Model Y repair needs.
We have been building structured parts, repair-manual and service-tool libraries that preserve reference numbers, model and generation context, source links, pricing evidence and the relationship between a procedure and the tools it requires.
This work matters because a catalogue match is only the beginning. It does not automatically prove VIN-level fitment, and a service-manual reference does not mean that a commercially supplied product is Tesla Genuine or Tesla-authorised. Our role is to keep the evidence visible, identify what is confirmed and clearly flag what still needs verification.
Why our process begins with a fitment check
PartsVolt is designed around a catalogue-led request-for-quote process rather than asking customers to guess from thousands of listings.
For a proper parts request, we may ask for:
- Vehicle model and year
- 17-digit VIN
- Reference part number, if available
- Photos of the vehicle, damaged area or existing component
- Quantity required
- Delivery location and urgency
These details help us compare the request with the available evidence before a product is ordered. They also reduce the most expensive problems in parts supply: incorrect fitment, incomplete repair scope, unnecessary freight, delays and avoidable returns.
Connecting technical context with practical supply
PartsVolt connects international and local supply options with the needs of repairers, body shops, fleets and EV owners across Australia and New Zealand.
Depending on the part and the available evidence, a request may lead to different supply paths: an OEM-grade replacement, a selected aftermarket option, a used original component, a specialised service tool or an exact-reference quotation.
We do not believe every product should be treated the same. Lower-risk, repeatable items can be suitable for direct sale or local stock. Safety-critical components—including battery, braking, steering, restraint and advanced driver-assistance parts—require a higher standard of source verification, technical review and installation responsibility.
More than an online store
Shopify gives PartsVolt a useful public catalogue and ordering foundation, but the long-term work goes further. Each genuine enquiry can improve our understanding of fitment, supplier performance, lead times, landed cost, warranty outcomes and real demand in the local market.
Over time, this creates a better system for comparing parts, preparing quotes, selecting reliable suppliers and deciding which products deserve local inventory.
Our goal is not to fill a catalogue with unsupported claims. It is to make EV parts sourcing more transparent, more evidence-led and more useful to the people responsible for completing the repair.

We see the PartsVolt product journey developing in stages:
- PartsVolt Sourced: matched through verified local and international supply partners.
- PartsVolt Selected: screened for practical repair use, fitment evidence, availability and supplier quality.
- PartsVolt Approved: supported by documented checks, warranty rules and supplier-performance records.
- PartsVolt Branded: developed for stable, repeatable categories where responsible quality control is realistic.
These are standards we intend to earn through real transactions and documented outcomes—not labels we apply without evidence.
Where we are going
Our starting point is Tesla repair parts, service tools and evidence-led sourcing. Our wider ambition is to support more EV brands and give repairers, fleets and other industry partners a clearer path from damage or diagnosis to the correct part, an informed supply decision and a properly validated repair.
The EV market is growing quickly, but the repair and parts infrastructure around it is still catching up. PartsVolt is being built for that next stage: one where technical context, trusted supply and repair outcomes belong in the same workflow.
